What's up with RFTG? Non-gamer chick flipping it around the table from time to time. I feel dumb now.Am I the only one finding this harder, weirder, odder complexly perplexing and unsatisfying at the end (the 'that's it? it's over now? ' feeling) more than most euros, rpgs, wargames, and even many CCGs? I see it EVERYWHERE and still can't make myself enjoy it - it feels like math homework or some optimization puzzle more than anything else (and a pretty uncontrollable puzzle at that - contrasted with Castles where random element is small, here card draws laugh in your face as they leave you stalled and stalled and stalled) and pretty 3D pictures do jack all to alleviate it.
Maybe a hundred plays is required to understand what you're really doing in the game (not the rules, but what you should think about before choosing moves). Or maybe a thousand won't be enough, since some vital brain function for this game is undeveloped in my puzzled brain.
