Probably should wait until I have a chance to listen to the podcast, but I disagree about player count. I have always considered this to be only a 4 player game and will not play at lower counts because it is frustrating to play all game and find out the tiles you were counting on just never came out. With 4, all are in play.

No doubt there is a worthy variant where you have a specific set of tiles used when playing with less than 4. Or maybe it's fine to just reveal the unused tiles at the start of the game so all players know what is coming. But the rules as written just do not work for me with fewer than 4 players.

I have no problems at all with this as a 4 and I like the game much more than most of my friends do.
