There came three seperate rulebooks with my game, so the previous owner of your copy could just have thrown away the French and the German rulebooks (which is bad since the English rules has a translation error).

Most Americans won't speak German or French fluently enough to benefit from a rulebook. And even if they did, they'd likely just read the English copy anyway. If they heard there was a rules error that necessitated reading the German copy, they'd have also heard what that rules error was.
