I don't think CoB is particularly deep... and that's why I think it has a lot of replay value. The games are more tactical in nature and about evaluating the current game state and finding the best move to get as many points as possible. You get some interesting decisions to make without getting bogged down in a really deep game where you have to plan for the endgame on turn one. Which is why I think casual gamers/non-gamers tend to enjoy these games as well.

Don't get me wrong I like deep complex games that require you to plan out a strategy. But those games tend to take more time and mental effort. And sometimes I just don't feel up for that, or I'm playing with people who would never go for it.

As for a more concrete testament to its replay value, I've played almost 200 games of CoB online and continue to enjoy playing it.
