I'm not colour blind, but I have friends who do and this game, like many others, does have issues. For non colour blind people the yellow versus green varies somewhat depending on where you are playing it. I have played our set in different places under different lighting conditions and in some of those places the yellow and green tiles were easy to distinguish and in other places they were almost impossible to distinguish.
Fair enough. I'm not trying to say that the backs of light-green and yellow tiles are strikingly contrasting, they are not. But for what it's worth, you can just keep the tiles in separate stacks on the table. This way you will know that "those ones" are light-green, and "those ones" are yellow, without even looking.
It would be a real problem only if you couldn't tell light-green from yellow on your player board, but those colours are different enough to make it impossible to confuse.
I guess what I was trying to say is that it's more of a matter of taste rather than a flat-out poor game design rendering the game unplayable. Could be better, as everybody here seems to agree, but still playable as it is.
