But for most people, cheating carries an implication of dishonesty. I accept you didn't mean it that way, and quoting dictionary definitions is not helpful -- I could easily find a definition that would include accidentally breaking the rules, i.e. accidental cheating.
But the usual interpretation is that cheating is something done deliberately. If you mean someone cheated accidentally, it's better to be clear and say "accidentally", to avoid exactly this sort of misunderstanding!
