Components for CoB are really terrible. Enough to detract from the game. It's a cash grab, and it's uglied up what should otherwise be a work of art.
Trajan however is beautiful component wise. It is more stressful compared to CoB particularly for sure, but I think that ultimately comes down to competing over a shared space compared using one's own player mat, as it is in CoB. There is a strong competitive area control type element in certain areas in Trajan, whereas in CoB you are just playing in your own space - which is part of the attraction imho.

Laminating the player boards does wonders, as it solves the "cheap" feel....the counters themselves are fine, as is the mainboard
We laminated all the player boards, it definitely helps. I do need to give Trajan a try.
