You can only take the goods tile from placing a ship tile on your estate.
Once placed, the ship tile gives you benefit to acquired goods tile(s) in one of the 6 depots available.

Also a note to keep in mind that often missed:
You may only take all the good tiles from one depot if only you have available slots. If not, you take what you can and leave the rest of the tiles on that depot.
