Yes, in particular I think it's a shame that 2-3-4-5 are on the back...Something I forgot to mention in the OP is that I have marked the edge that is adjacent to the starting castle with a small dot using a silver pen, in case anyone notices. This is just for my convenience remembering what the standard board 1 is.
That said I guess it can be useful to help all players orient the piece the right way. I'm also thinking of a way to number the quadrants in a useful way but non intrusive way, though I am still debating how.
... I'll post my further variant in this topic tonight, but be warned they'll be even more board player boards vandalisation involved ;-)
